Membership Criteria 
  1. I am over 18

  2. I am a UK Resident

  3. I am a Sunni Muslim

  4. My residential address above is within 4 miles radius of Purley Masjid (postcode CR8 2AZ), as per

  5. I have been resident at the above address for at least the past 3 months from the date of this application

  6. I am not currently subject to an exclusion from the Purley Masjid premises

  7. I do not have an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception

  8. I am the applicant and the information I have given in support of my application is, to the best of my knowledge and belief,  true and complete.

  9. I understand that if it is subsequently discovered that any statement is false or misleading, or that I have withheld relevant information, my application may be disqualified

Membership Terms & Conditions

This online membership application form, including the declaration, comprises the Membership terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) of the Purley Islamic Community Centre, operating as Purley Masjid (“Purley Masjid”, “We”, “Us” or “Our”). You should read them carefully as they set out your rights and obligations as a member of Purley Masjid. If needed,
further clarification can be found at the FAQ - Membership.

For the avoidance of doubt, such FAQs do not form part of these Terms and Conditions. Members shall be bound during the continuance of their Membership by these Terms and Conditions including any amendments made in accordance with the details set out below. 


By applying for Membership, you are confirming that you accept these Terms and Conditions. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions, Purley Masjid will be unable to process your Membership application.


Purley Masjid is a registered charity: number no 1146668 in England and Wales. Purley Masjid is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, company registration number 06902369

Membership Applications
  1. Applications for two (2) classes of membership will be considered by Purley Masjid. The classes are “Local Members” and “Friends of Purley Masjid”; and reference to “Member” or “Membership” can refer to either or both of these classes.

  2. Purley  Masjid,  acting reasonably,  shall have the right to refuse applications for Membership.

  3. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions is a condition of Membership.

  4. All applicants must meet the Membership criteria set out in the declaration and follow the

    Membership process. Further details of the process can be found in the Membership Process Guide available on the Purley Masjid website.

  5. Local Membership Rights and Obligations 

  6. As a Local Member you have the right to

    1. receive regular updates from Purley Masjid

    2. attend the Annual General Meeting of Purley Masjid

    3. request a question and answer session with the Directors of Purley Masjid (“Directors”) or the Management Committee regarding non-confidential Purley Masjid matters at meetings specifically organised for that purpose

    4. vote in any matters where the Directors of Purley Masjid have requested you to do so

    5. apply for the position of Director within Purley Masjid if a vacancy is publicly communicated by Purley Masjid

  7. As a Local Member your obligations are as follows:

    1. ​payment of the Membership fee

    2. you agree to comply with the Purley Masjid Code of Conduct and all Purley Masjid policies and procedures, guides, FAQs, instructions and notices that will apply from time to time; and

    3. if requested, use best endeavours to provide assistance to the Directors of Purley Masjid in certain operational matters in the running of Purley Masjid, including without limitation and by way of example only, assisting with Eid events, Jum'uah prayers and administrative support.

    4. if requested, use best endeavours to provide guidance and advice to the Directors of Purley Masjid as to how best Purley Masjid can serve the local community (with the understanding that the Directors shall have the final say in all decisions made and the role of the Local Member is advisory only). For the avoidance of doubt, to the extent these rights and obligations differ from any previous rights and obligations, the rights and obligations set out in these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

  8. Friends of Purley Masjid Rights and Obligation

    1. As a Friend of Purley Masjid you have the right to:

      1. receive regular updates from Purley Masjid;

      2. attend the Annual General Meeting of Purley Masjid where the Directors have requested you to do so, but shall not have voting rights

      3. apply for the position of Director within Purley Masjid if a vacancy is publicly communicated by Purley Masjid.

    2. As a Friend of Purley Masjid your obligations are as follows:

      1. Payment of the Membership fee.

      2. You agree to comply with the Purley Masjid Code of Conduct and all Purley Masjid policies and procedures, FAQs, instructions and notices that will apply from time to time.

  9. Membership Term, Renewal and Termination

    1. Membership is until December 31st and is subject to the approval of your application and full payment of the Membership fee being made.

    2. There is no automatic renewal of Membership. Members will need to re-apply for Membership in order to avoid a lapse upon expiration of the Membership term stated in the foregoing paragraph.

    3. To cancel your Membership you will need to notify Purley Masjid in writing stating a reason which will be recorded for internal use only. Refunds will not be given for cancelled

  10. Memberships

    1. Purley Masjid may immediately terminate your Membership in the event you (i) breach these Terms and Conditions, (ii) breach the Purley Masjid Code of Conduct, (iii) no longer satisfy the Membership criteria or (iv) for any other reason decided by Purley Masjid, acting reasonably.

    2. Your Membership is non-transferable and will automatically terminate upon your death.

    3. The Membership fees may be used for any purpose the Directors deem fit.

  11. Your Details

    1. All information provided to Purley Masjid by you must be true and accurate. It is your responsibility to notify Purley Masjid of any changes to your name, address, telephone number or email address.

  12. Privacy

    1. Purley Masjid respects your privacy. Your contact details, as provided in the application form, will be used by Us, or an authorised third party, to communicate with you regarding your Membership, related matters and in the furtherance of the legitimate operations of Purley Masjid.

    2. We will also add you to Our official WhatsApp group and email mailing list (“Communication Channels”). We may continue to contact you via the Communication Channels even if your Membership terminates or expires for any reason (as you do not need to be a Member to receive information via our Communication Channels). You may unsubscribe at any time from Our Communication Channels by emailing

    3. We will not disclose or use your contact details for any other purpose without your consent unless legally required by a regulatory body.

  13. Gift Aid - Purley Masjid reserves the right to claim Gift Aid on all membership fees paid, subject to you making the Gift Aid declaration in the online membership application form. For the avoidance of doubt, other than the rights set out in these Terms and Conditions, payment of membership fees does not entitle you to any preferential right to use the facilities or services provided by Purley Masjid.

  14. Variation of Terms and Conditions - These Terms and Conditions may be revised from time to time by the Directors of Purley Masjid as they are entitled to make and amend rules for the administration and management of Purley Masjid. These rules include, without limitation, the power to set criteria for the admission and expulsion of Members. If they are revised, we will post the revised version in the relevant section of the Purley Masjid website. It will be your responsibility to keep up-to-date with all such changes and your continued membership shall be deemed acceptance of any changes to these Terms and Conditions.

  15. Severance - If any provision (or part of a provision) of these Terms and Conditions is found by any court or administrative body of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal, the other provisions shall remain in force. If any invalid, unenforceable or illegal provision would be valid, enforceable or legal if some part of it were deleted, the provision shall apply with whatever modification is necessary to give effect to the intention of Purley Masjid.

  17. Governing Law - These Terms and Conditions shall be construed in accordance with and shall be subject to the laws of England and Wales.

  18. Membership forms and supporting documentation must be submitted by 31 st December at the latest.

  19. Acceptance of this form or receipt of payment is not a confirmation of membership. Members will be notified of acceptance.
